Hello, and welcome to my cyberHome.

The definition of what a Managing Editor does differs from company to company, but here at STOCKS & COMMODITIES, the Managing Editor's duties include coordinating with the Editor for the upcoming issue's articles by identifying articles that can be run or held; managing magazine copy flow through all edits, author reviews and proofreading, from initial reading to bluelines; maintaining magazine production deadline schedule; managing editorial copyright transfer forms; overseeing input all line corrections on dummies, boards and bluelines; writing copy if needed for advertising and marketing materials produced in-house for S&C and S&C clients; proofreading advertising and marketing materials produced in-house; updating media kit editorial calendar and advertising deadline flyers. Mainly, though, I make sure the magazine sounds and reads the best it can.

BIO . . .

I've been at STOCKS & COMMODITIES since 1989, but I've been in my particular profession for nearly 20 years. My previous financial publishing experience includes:

• Copy Editor, Knight-Ridder Financial News wire service
• Managing Editor, Mortgage-Backed Securities Directory, Dealers' Digest
• Editor, Mortgage Research and Strategy Group; Research Editor, Equity Research Department, EF Hutton & Co.
• Copy Editor, Institutional Research, Dean Witter Reynolds
• Assistant Copy Editor, Institutional Investor

On my off-time, I've been involved in a number of different projects to keep my writing and editing skills fresh. I've written for DC Comics; Institutional Investor magazine; Macmillan Professional Publishing; Retail Express newspaper; and for The West Seattle Herald. I've copy edited for various and sundry organizations, including PC Letter; electronic newsletter coursey.com; Foundation for The Future; manuals for McCaw Cellular; Retail Express; Harlequin Books; Institutional Investor; and Global Finance. I've even done proofreading for the Seattle International Music Festival; DC Comics; Science Digest, and TV production house The Big Guns.

HOBBIES ? ? !

I don't have any, but I'm currently looking for one. Let me know if you think of anything interesting.
