Software with genetic algorithm optimizes trading systems

UPDATE -- Ward Systems Group offers the NeuroShell Trader Professional program for optimizing the performance of your trading system using a genetic algorithm. This new edition of NeuroShell Trader uses the GeneHunter genetic algorithm software embedded to help address the following questions:
  • What issues are good buys at this time?
  • What is the best time to buy or sell this issue?
  • Which indicators and variables are the best to use for modeling?
  • Which indicators are the best to use for buy/sell decisions?
  • What are the best settings for my indicators?
The NeuroShell Trader Professional optimizes indicators used as net inputs, chooses the best inputs, chooses the best thresholds for trading those nets, optimizes indicators used in trading strategies, and chooses the best rules for trading strategies. It also optimizes limit prices in limit orders.

Additional features include saving custom indicators, executing DLLs, component analysis, fast Fourier transform indicators, and alerts.

NeuroShell's trading strategy optimizer optimizes systems, even if they don't have neural nets (for example, crossovers and breakouts).

The introductory price for NeuroShell Trader Professional is $1,295 until July 15, 1999, after which the price will be $1,395.

Adaptive indicator package for use with TradeStation or SuperCharts

NEW -- The Roy Kelly2000i package contains advanced statistical algorithms with filters based on current space-age technology. Each indicator has been tested on 10 years of continuous data. All indicators on the disk are directly transferable into any version of TradeStation and SuperCharts, including TradeStation 2000i and ProSuite 2000i. Each indicator's input parameters are completely changeable so the user can experiment with his or her own settings. These indicators can be used on any stock, option, mutual fund, or future -- including the S&P index and bond futures.

The indicators can be used in any time frame, whether it's daily, weekly, monthly, even intraday tick charts. The indicators can be used alone or with other indicators to enhance and complement what you are already using. If requested, Kelly will personally take your call.

Internet-based futures and options broker introduces new order-entry features

UPDATE -- XpressTrade, LLC, an Internet-based futures brokerage firm headquartered in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Center, has added a new contingent order entry feature to its existing Internet services for self-directed futures and options traders.

The new feature allows traders to enter a primary futures order and up to two contingent orders simultaneously via the Internet. The contingent orders are queued by the XpressTrade system until the primary order has been executed. Once the primary order has been filled, any contingent orders are activated and routed directly to either the Globex system, an electronic device used by a floor broker in the pit, a trading desk on the exchange floor, or the XpressTrade Trading Center for execution. Contingent orders may be entered at an exact price or at a specified distance above or below the price at which the primary order is filled.

With this new tool, futures traders may enter an outright order to establish a new position in the market, a limit order at a profit objective, and a protective stop order at the same time, and the XpressTrade system will process them in the intended sequence. This relieves the trader of having to wait for a confirmed fill on the primary order prior to placing additional orders to take profits or protect against losses.

XpressTrade is an introducing broker. Its all-electronic service permits low commission rates.

QOUTES ON INTERNET STOCK INDEX CONTRACT

The Kansas City Board of Trade will offer real-time quotes on its new ISDEX Internet stock index contract free of charge at KCBTÕs Website. Real-time quotes on KCBT ISDEX futures and futures options will be available immediately upon the start of trade on June 1.

ISDEX futures and futures options will be based on the Internet stock index created by Internet.com. The ISDEX contains 50 stocks representative of the diversity of publicly traded US companies that derive revenue primarily from the Internet, including stocks from the software, hardware, content, commerce, and communications/access sectors.

The ISDEX is a modified capitalization-weighted index. The ISDEX will restrict the weighting of the largest component stocks to no more than 10% of the total capitalization of all 50 index stocks. Weights will be reviewed and adjusted if necessary at the end of each calendar quarter. Adjustments will be made when any stockÕs weight exceeds 15% of the total capitalization of all 50 index stocks. When such an adjustment is necessary, all stocks will be adjusted so their weight is 10% or less.
